Eagle’s Wings Foundation and the Villa Group Timeshare

The connection between the Eagle’s Wings Foundation and the Villa Group timeshare company is very interesting, being that their relationship was the first of its kind in the timeshare industry and a model for all future philanthropic associations between the world of vacation ownership and charity work.

The Villa Group timeshare division is one of the chief supporters of the Eagle’s Wings Foundation, a registered charity helping some of the poorest communities in Mexico. The Eagle’s Wings Foundation is a non-profit organization that was established in 1989 thanks to the inspiration of the late Jim McCarthy who was a long-standing member on the board of directors at Universal Vacation Club International, the mutual benefit company that deals with membership issues and exchanges of Villa Group timeshare members.

The vision of the Eagle’s Wings Foundation with the support of the Villa Group Resorts, Universal Vacation Club International (UVCI) and ResortCom International was to help the poorest people in the communities near where the Villa Group developed its award winning resorts and timeshare complexes. The charity began in Puerto Vallarta with the first Villa Group resorts, Villa del Palmar Puerto Vallarta and Villa del Mar, continuing with programs in Cabo San Lucas, Riviera Nayarit, Loreto and Cancun as the company expanded to open new resorts in other locations in Mexico.

The Eagle’s Wings Foundation raises money to help local communities in various ways. Firstly, there are programs that invite monetary donations from individuals and business, including the Villa Group, UVCI and ResortCom as well as business in the United States. As a fully registered charity, business can receive tax relief on their donations. On a smaller scale, all the hotels have money tanks where visitors can put their spare coins. Donations of food, school supplies, toilet paper and other such necessities are welcome as well as volunteering your time. Larger donations such as school buses and ambulances have also been successfully received and delivered to organizations most in need.

One of the ways that the Eagle’s Wings Foundation and the Villa Group timeshare together help the less fortunate is thanks to the bazaars which sell items that have been replaced in the Villa del Palmar resorts. These are items that are still in good condition and are sold at very reasonable prices in the poorest communities. All money generated goes back into the charitable programs that the Eagle’s Wings Foundation organizes.
